Holidays in March/April: spring awakening in Fiè allo Sciliar
A high-contrast world of colours welcomes you during your vacation in March/April in the South Tyrolean village of Fiè allo Sciliar on the edge of the Alpe di Siusi. In the valley and in the upland areas of the Dolomites, the first early bloomers crane their heads in the air, and the meadows shine in lush green. The snowy peaks of the Catinaccio and the Sciliar create a stunning contrast. In the ski area Alpe di Siusi, the skiers and snowboarders may still gambol happily until Easter, while the first guests are already enjoying the warm sunshine in the open air in the cafés in Fiè allo Sciliar.
Happy kick off – The event year starts in the spring
The spring awakening of nature in the Dolomites is accompanied by various events in the villages of the Sciliar area. The lead up is usually the legendary Oswald von Wolkenstein Ride. It is one of the event highlights in the early summer. The largest equestrian happening in South Tyrol attracts visitors from all parts of the country. This event takes place every year in honour of the medieval minstrel Oswald von Wolkenstein, who had his residence in the ruins of Castle Hauenstein. Another highlight is the open-air concert of the local folk group Kastelruther Spatzen.
The sun in the Southern Alps in the spring has already enough power to melt away the remaining snow on the largest mountain plateau in Europe. The Alpe di Siusi now awaits you with beautiful hiking paths and wonderfully situated mountain bike trails. 350 km of marked hiking trails lead you through the stunning mountain region. Furthermore, the Running Park Alpe di Siusi opens its doors in the spring – it wields a magical attraction for sports enthusiasts from all over Europe. In the spring, you may participate in a guided herb walk on the Farm Pflegerhof, and learn interesting details about the mountain herbs in the Dolomites.
